2022 IBJJF No-gi Worlds Play-by-Play

No-gi worlds are here and it is a chance for us to see some high level no-gi grappling. There are a few somewhat big names in this, so I'll try to cover those matches here. I;m just going over the adult black belt divisions here and since there are multiple matches at the same time I won't be able to get everything. Also I apologize for any name mistakes as I know I will make some and the IBJJF doesn't display names correctly on screen. Anyway, lets get to it.

It looks like we are starting out with Freddie Vosgrove vs A.Baker. Freddie pulls guard, goes to half and then inverts for the legs. He gets to 50/50 and sweeps. Costa gets out of closed guard and Mayfiel stands. Costa then pulls guard and goes for the flase reap. He spins under Mayfiel and gets him in the saddle. Mayfiel has crossed his legs to defend, but Costa goes to double trouble. Mayfiel looks stuck and Costa goes for the Texas Cloverleaf. Costa gets the tap. Costa wins via Texas cloverleaf.

On another mat Thomas Bracher is doing Gordon Ryan cosplay for some reason. He is up by too and trying to work past the guard, but not having much luck. He suddenly runs past the guard and as his opponent turtles he jumps on the back and gets the RNC.

Mike grabs a foot and drops for an ankle lock, but Gianni defends and Mike comes back on top. Perez tries to pass and before Gianni can re-guard he goes for a guillotine. He then switches to a darce and it looks tight. Gianni is scrambling around trying to relive pressure. Gianni has been stuck for about a minute now and then they roll out of bounds and destroy some equipment.

Mike is up 3 advantages to nothing and it looks like the refs are deciding what to do about Gianni going out of bounds while in the darce.

They restart and give Mike 2 points. Gianni pulls and starts working his RDLR. Gianni is trying to get something going, but Mike is shutting him down. Mike is threatening a ankle lock, but it isn't close. Gianni goes for a kiss of the dragon sweep, but Mike goes into a stack pass.
