Polaris 25 Absolute GP Play-By-Play

 

The big Polaris GP is finally here and there are a lot or great names. Below is the backets, so you can see who is fighting who. I'll start the PbP underneath.

Fabrico Andrey vs Owen Livesey 

Owen and Andre lock up and Owen almost gets a fire men's carry, but Andre pushes him off. Owner then hits a double leg, but they go out of bounds. Andre hits a nice ankle pick, but Owen pops back up immediately.

Andre hits a beautiful duck under, but Owen counters with an uchimata that goes out of bounds. They are attacking each other, but they keep going out of bounds before they can secure a takedown. Owen has Andre in a front headlock, but loses it as he tries to move around to the back. Andre goes for a duck under and gets it. Andre scores with that as Owen stands up.

Owen attempts another uchimata, but again it goes out of bounds. Owen is pushing Andre all around the mat, but he's having problems finishing. Owen goes for a single leg and Andre jumps to spawl and defend. Owen lifts him, but Andre lands on his feet like a cat.

2 min left and Andre is up by 1 point. Andre goes for a ankle pick, and Owen picks him up and slams him. Andre pops back up before he gets scored on. Andre shoots for a takedown, Owen goes for an uchimata, but messes it up and ends up in turtle. Owen stands up, but he seems gassed. Time runs out and Fabricio Andre wins via points.

Roberto Jimmenz vs Izaak Mitchell

Roberto Jimmenz vs Izaak Mitchell is up next. Izaak comes out to "men at work" and has Jason Rau and Eogon O'Flannagan in his corner. I'm not sure if Roberto has a corner.


At action times up and Izaak goes for a hard knee tap, but Roberto stands him up. Izaak hits a slide by and takes Roberto down. He almost gets the back, but Roberto defends as he goes to the RNC. Roberto gets to half guard briefly and Izaak passes. Roberto stands up. They only give Izaak 1 point though and they don't score his takedown.

Roberto shoots, but he gets stuffed. Izaak is up by 1 point. Roberto shoots a double, but Izaak sprawl and they return to the feet. Izaak goes for a foot sweep the knocks Roberto down to his hands and as he gets up, Izaak hits him with a double leg. Izaak is on top in guard now and gets another point. Roberto goes for a guillotine, but Izaak slips out. Roberto stands and they exchange a few takedown attempts. Izaak hits a Snapdown, but Roberto recovers.

Izaak is up by 2 points and goes for another snapdown into a knee tap, but can't get it. Roberto sees there is only 3 min left and he pulls guard. Roberto tries to wrestle up and gets a front headlock, but can't get Izaak down. They are back to standing and exchanging takedowns, but neither can finish anything. Roberto pulls and almost hits a berimbolo, but can't get it and time runs out. This was a good action packed match. Izaak wins via points.

Marcin Maciulewicz vs Giancarlo Bodoni

Marcin Maciulewicz vs Giancarlo Bodoni is up next. Bodoni gets and underhook and moves around to the rear bodylock and then a takedown. For some reason he doesn't get points, but he seems move focused on passing now. Marcin traps him in 50/50 and is looking for an ankle lock. Bodoni frees his leg and resumes passing. Marcin looks to enter the false reap, but Bodoni shuts him down and then enters half guard. He gets chest to chest and uses the bodylock. Marcin tries to get to his knees, but as he does Bodoni gets his back. From there he locks the RNC over the jaw and squeezes. Giancarlo Bodoni wins via RNC.

Kaynan Duarte vs Jason Rau

Jason Rau vs Kaynan Duarte is up now. Apparently Jason wanted Kaynan, so I guess we will soon see if that was a good idea.

Kayan grabs him right at the start and slams him to the floor to score a point. Rau is working RDLR, but he can't get anything going against Kaynan. Kaynan is standing above him trying to pressure in. Kaynan breaks through the frames slowly, but surely and passes from halfguard. Kaynan moves to mount and isolates and arm. Kaynan goes to the arm triangle and gets the tap. He looked very good. Kaynan wins via arm triangle choke.

Fabrico Andrey vs Giancarlo Bodoni

Fabricio and Giancarlo are up now. Bodoni didn't get much time to rest, but he should have a big size advantage. Andre goes for an ankle pick, but Bodoni catches him in a front headlock. Bodoni flips him then goes for an armbar. Its close, but Andre rolls gets on top and gets hit with a triangle. Andre shrugs it off and the restart back on the middle. Bodoni works RDLR and wrestles up to a single leg. Bodoni takes his time and Andre ankle picks him, but can keep him down. Andre gets the rear bodylock, but can't do anything with it. They disengage and Andre almost hits a double leg, but Bodoni defends. Bodoni sits to guard and Fabricio tries to Torreando, but Bodoni wrestles up with a bodylock. Bodoni is having trouble getting Andre down and Andre hits him with a harai goshi. Bodoni lands flat on his back and Andre gets a point. Fabricio almost jumps over the guard and Bodoni tries to catch him in an arm triangle. 3 min left and Andre is up by one with Bodoni on bottom working his guard. Bodoni tries to enter the legs, but Andre gets out and Bodoni looks tired.

Bodoni uses a butterfly sweep, but he can't keep him down and Andre comes back on top. Bodoni wrestles up and Bodoni tries to take him down. They scramble out of bounds and Andre shakes off everything Bodoni throws at him. Time runs out. Fabricio Andre wins via points.

Izaak Michell vs Kaynan Duarte

Now we have Izaak and Kaynan. Kaynan pulls half guard, hits and John Wayne sweep and tries to get a guillotine. Kaynan let's go, but gets a point for the sweep. Izaak looks to stand up, but Kaynan won't let him and is constantly pressuring in. Kaynan goes to the bodylock and almost has it, but Izaak finds space and resets his guard. Izaak tries to stand, but immediately gets pushed down and almost gets passed with a leg drag. He recovers and tries to work from half guard.

Kaynan gets past the knee shield and puts pressure on Izaak. Izaak recovers and Kaynan enters HQ position, gets a bodylock and passes to mount. Izaak gets back to halfguard and almost gets his back take. Izaak recovers, but Kaynan got 2 points for the sequence. There are 4 min left and Kaynan is up by 3 points. Kaynan jumps over the guard and hooks up a guillotine. It is close but Izaak slips out. They stand back and Izaak shoots a quick double. Kaynan goes for a guillotine, but Izaak slips out. Izaak scores a point. They are back on the feet and Kaynan is overpowering him on the feet. There is 1 min left and they are still wrestling. Izaak shoots and Kaynan thinks about the guillotine and then opts to sprawl instead. They return to the feet and Izaak tries a foot sweep plus a double leg, but can't get them as tome runs out. Kaynan Duarte wins via points.

Mike Grundy vs Aljamain Sterling

Mike Grundy vs Aljamain Sterling are up now in the super fight. The lock up and start wrestling. They seem to be cancelling each other out mostly and neither have been able to mount significant offense. A hard snap from Grundy, but he can't get anything going afterwards. Sterling goes for a single, but they go off the mat. The same thing happens again. The ref warns them for inactivity.

Aljo goes for a takedown, but gets stuck in a front headlock. They restart and it is more of the same. The lack of activity causes them to be restarted in combat base. The Return the standing. Grundy shoots and Aljo catches him a guillotine. Grudy has been stuck in it for about a minute, and Grudy escapes. They a back to wrestling and the cliche up and work throws. Neither can get an advantage and they go back to handfighting. Time runs out and this one was really close. Aljermain Sterling wins via decision.

Fabricio Andre vs Kaynan Duarte

Fabricio Andre and Kaynan Duarte and now fighting for $30,000(or is it pounds). We have the biggest competitor vs the smallest and both look hyped up. Kaynan sits down immediately. Kaynan wrestles up 3 sec later and gets the sweep for 1 point. Andre keeps trying to stand, but Duarte keeps him down. Kaynan backs off and Andre goes to inverted guard and hops after Kaynan. They get to the feet and Kaynan gets to the back and almost gets the hooks in. Andre slides to the side and hits an uchimata, but gets rolled. The scramble to the feet and Kaynan sits to guard. Andre almost hits a leg pin pass, but Kaynan defends.

The action has slowed with Andre on top of halfguard. Andre goes for a pass, but Kaynan gets the shoulder crunch position and sweeps Andre. Kaynan is looking for the back now and is trying to hit the chair sit. He gets the back and sinks in the RNC for the win. Kaynan Duarte win via RNC. Kaynan raises Fabricio's hand in a show of good sportsmanship.
