What We Learned From Polaris 26 + OneFC

This week Polaris came back with Polaris 26 featuring Craig Jones in the main event. We also had Tye Ruotolo competing for the OneFC championship belt. It has been a few weeks since we've had a big event and it is always nice to see people like Tye and Craig compete. There were a lot of other good matches as well, so lets check them out.

How People Won

As you can see there weren't many submissions. It should be noted that none of these matches had points, so there nothing but decisions. I definitely would have liked to have seen more submissions during these matches, but this happens sometimes. There weren't any terrible matches, but many of them were just ok and somewhat forgettable. I was happy to get another Polaris though and a Ruotolo match is always appreciated.

Stats

We got 2 subs here a RNC by Craig Jones and an armbar by Molly McCann. There were also a few guillotines attempted, but not none were able to get the finish. There were quite a few leglocks attempted, but people's defense was solid, so surprisingly there were no finishes.

There were 2 takedowns achieved during these matches. An ankle pick from Kendall Reusing and an Uki goshi. There were a number of double legs attempts, but they weren't finished. These events allowed guard pulling at all times, so there weren't too many takedowns, unfortunately.

As opposed to takedowns there were quite a few sweeps. The 2 most common were the single leg wrestle ups and scissor sweeps. The scissor sweeps weren't traditionally scissor sweeps though and more variations from places like de la riva guard. There were also halfguard, X-guard and hook sweeps as well. The sub sweep is a sweep that is due to someone defending a submission.

The 3/4 mount pass was the most successful and that came from failed halfguard passes. The smashpass was also very successful and it looks like pressure passes were working very well at this event. However there was a highstep pass as well.

The only position that granted a finish was the back due to Craig Jone's RNC. It seems people couldn't get their offense going from mount and the typical leglock positions weren't yeilding fruit either.

Overall

These were 2 good events, but they weren't great. There was good consistent action, but there weren't a ton of highlights. This sometimes happens and not every event can be great. I was happy to see Craig Jones come out and use his wrestling to get a quick finish. I think if you only have time to watch a few of these matches, check out Craig Jones', Molly McCann's and Tye Ruotolo's. I think all of Polaris's cards have been solid this year and I heard something about a welterweight GP. Hopefully we will get that early next year. I'm also hoping Tye Ruotolo gets a top ranked opponent for his first title defense.

Year To Date Stats

Here are the stats from the year so far. We only have one more month until the year ends, but a lot can happen in that time.
