PGF Season 6 Day 4 - Regular Season Final

Day 4 was the last day of the regular season and determined which team won the $100,000. There were a lot of good matches and you could tell there was a lot on the line. Not only was the team prize on the line, but also the athletes needed to accumulate enough points to get into the individual finals tomorrow. There was a sense of urgency in most of the matches and I think that made things much better. Of course you should be the judge of that and you can watch it here for free.

If you'd like to watch individual matches just check smooth comp and look under the individual athletes for matches.

Winners

Coach -  Jean Jacques Machado
  1. Elijah Carlton
  2. Davis Asare
  3. Ben Eddy
  4. David Evers
  5. Nathan Haddad
  6. Dane Leak

Congrats to team Xmartial Arts. Everyone went hard and was going for the finish the whole time. Unfortunately David Evers was injured, but when he was in there he was doing major work. Hopefully he will be back next year.

Play offs

There are 8 people going into an EBI style tournament for $20,000. The top 8 point scorers from the regular season will be competing against each other to determine who is the ultimate PGF Seaon 6 champion. However we aren't exactly sure who will be in right now, but let's look at the top 7.

  1. Davis Asare
  2. Elijah Carlton
  3. Jett Thomson
  4. Daniel Sathler
  5. Andy Varela
  6. David Evers
  7. Ben Eddy
  8. Renato Canuto

PJ Barch is on the bubble, but he might be able to get in there is both Daniel Sathler and David Evers pull out. That is a distinct possibility as they both eat some pretty bad pops the other day. Hopefully they'll be ok, but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Stats

Overall

This was a great regular season. I was happy that there was so much action and everyone really went for it. There were quite a few highlight reel submissions and techniques. There were some upsets as well and some new names that I'm looking forward to seeing  again in the future.

I think the breakout star this season was Jett Thomson. At only 17 years old I don't think many people expected much from him, but he really took it to people and subbed a number of vets. He has a nasty aoki lock that I'm going to go back and study. He has a bright future ahead of him and we will see even more of him tomorrow in the playoffs.

I think many of the people who hadn't done PGF before were a bit confused as far as strategy went. PJ Barch, Renato Canuto and Max Hansen seemed to make some strategic mistakes at the begging of the week and that made it harder on them later. Canuto was able to course correct and make it into the playoffs, but PJ Barch is still on the bubble and won't be in there unless Daniel Sathler and David Evers both pull out.

I'm excited to see the play offs tomorrow and who will win the $20,000. Be sure to check back here tomorrow for more.
