The Year in Nogi Grappling 2023 PT.2

In part 1 we saw the overall stats, but now we will take a closer look at all the stats for takedowns, subs, passes, etc in this article. The start of the year was a bit slow, but once things started we got a lot great matches. We saw some new events as well, most notably the ADCC Open events and the AIGA promotion. We also saw the long awaited return of Quintet. 2023 was definitely one of the best years in grappling, so let's take a look at the various stats and try to draw some conclusions from them. Grossest Match of the Year Stats So as you can see the RNC came out on top as always. This seems to be the #1 submission in all rulesets and is the only sub I'd recommend everyone to learn. Following this is the inside heelhook, the armbar and kimura respectively. I was a bit surprised about the kimura, but this year it seems to have been a good tool for finishing matches. WNO 22 Rodriguez vs Hugo Play-by-Play

WNO 22 is starting and it is the first event of the year. We have a lot of matches so be sure to look down below to follow the action. This page will be updated as it happens. I thought he was going to have some big announcements, but they just asked him about the matches. I liked it more when they had the commentators give their picks. I think that format, especially with Caio Terra, was more interesting. WNO 22 is getting start now with the first match. ADCC 2022 Meta PT.1 - Submission City

I've finished the breakdowns for each division and now we can finally talk about the big picture. Now that we have stats for almost everything lets see where the game is going. I made some predictions before the event, so in this article and the next we'll see if what I said came true. In this post let's look at the finishes. In the next article I'll go over sweeps, takedowns, etc. I posted this stat before, but I thought it needed to be here too, so we can see some trends. Overall it looks like what we are used to seeing for no-gi events. Neck submissions being the most common, but usually legs are slightly more common than arms. Here things are reversed, but only by one submission. That said let's get to the juicier stats. Submissions Most Common As you can see above I put the submissions in order by the most attempted.
