What We Learned From EBI 22

EBI is back and they have a whole lot of other shows that came with them. This time at EBI 22 they did the welterweights, which IMO is great since that weight class has the deepest talent pool. This event had a really good roster and they produced some great results. This was a really fun and exciting event, so if you haven't watched it, do that before we get to the results below.

How People Won

At This event 53.3% of the matches ended in submission. You can't ask for much more than that. It was a bit strange that arm locks beat chokes here, but I'm always happy to see some of the more rare submissions. Although I love a good RNC, I was happy to see a Wojlock here.

Stats

Overall

This was a great event. The rooster was good and it lived up to the hype. Anytime you get more than 50% submission on a card I'm happy. Congratulations to Alan Sanchez on his second EBI championship. He said he'd like a match with Nicky Ryan on a Fightpass Invitational and I think that is a great match to make.

I always have a soft spot in my heart for EBI since it was one of the first pro grappling events I watched. This was a great return and I hope they put these cards on more regularly.

I'll be covering one more event before the end the year. I'll cover nogi worlds soon and after that I'll start compiling all the stats for 2024. Hopefully I can get it done before 2025, but make sure to keep an eye on this blog, so you don't miss it.
