What We Learned From the Europe, Middle East & African ADCC Trails(2025)

So here we are at the first trials of the season for ADCC 2026 and we are starting out in Europe. I was a bit suprised to see the trials happening so soon after CJI, but luckily we saw a lot of people from CJI 2 not only compete, but also win. On top of that we got some new winners as well and this should be exciting for European grappling fans as ADCC will be coming to Poland this time, so they can see their teammates and countrymen more easily than before. I was happy to see some new names here that I haven't seen before, but I was also surprised that a lot of big names didn't bother showing up. I don't know if they've already gotten invites, are waiting for the next trials or are going to sit this ADCC out. Anyway, let's take a look at the winners.

How People Won

Before I get into any of the stats I should clarify that these aren't all the matches from the trials, obviously. I did the stats for all the finals matches and 1 match at random(usually the semifinals) from the people who won. Hopefully this gives a good sampling of the trials.

Anyway, we got a 60% submission rate for this one with most of the finishes being chokes and the rest were armlocks. It is rare not to see any leglocks, but it happens sometimes. Anytime there are more subs than decisions and points wins, I'm happy.

Overall

This was a great start to ADCC season. There was a lot of good action and I was actually a bit surprised Declan Moody and Pawel Jawarski looked so good considering they just competed at CJI 2. Both of them managed to punch their ticket into ADCC and I'm looking forward to seeing them. Then next trials are the North American Trials in November, which should be interesting.
