We just finished the second event of this ADCC season with the first North American ADCC trials. Surprisingly many big names didn't show up, so the field was open for some new names to come in and they did. We got to see some new faces and many up and comers secured their spots for ADCC 2026.
Due to the large number of matches and the fact that the video quality wasn't good, the stats for this are limited to the finals and 3rd place matches, so keep that in mind. Now let's take a look below at the results and some stats from the event.
Here we got a 46.3 submission rate, which is really impressive. Especially considering the fact that these are finals and 3rd place matches, which are usually more conservative. Chokes made up the majority of the subs followed by leg locks. Surprisingly there were no arm locks, but that happens sometimes. Of course over the hundreds of matches at these trials there were some armlocks, but they didn't appear in these matches.
I think this was a good event and the action was worth watching. Unfortunately there were technical problems with a lot of the matches, so you can't see all the ending on flograppling, which really hurts the event overall. Also the lack of names also puts a damper on things. I hope the next trials will be bigger and more names will show up. ADCC has always been the premiere nogi grappling event, but this didn't really feel like a lead up to it, but of course this is only 1 trials event.
