We just finished the first ADCC trials for the Asian & Oceana region. There are 5 new names headed to ADCC, so we'll be going over that and showing some of the stats. I will say this though before we start. There was a lack of names at these trials. I don't know why, but it seemed like many names just didn't show up, so most of the divisions had 2 big name grapplers and the rest of the names I hadn't heard of. I don't know why this is happening at the ADCC trials, but I've noticed this trend over all the ADCC trials during this cycle. Due to this and being busy, I only did stats for the championship matches. Also please note that there didn't appear to be any women's matches at all during these trials, so there are no results of stats for them. Anyway, lets get to the results.
Strangely we only got arm submissions here. Usually we just get chokes or leglocks, but it was nice to see a bit of a change up. Of course due to the low number of matches covered here we can't really draw many conclusions. It was nice to see more than half the matches end in submission though, especially the championship matches.
I was happy to see some new people get a chance at the ADCC championships and I think this was a good oppertunity to add some new blood into the pro grappling scence. However I am a bit concerned with the lack of names at these trials. Hopefully during the second edition of these trials more people show up.

Overall
Another thing that was disappointing was the mats and overall safety. It looked like they put puzzle mats over concrete floors. Often times the action goes off the mats at ADCC and this can be extremely dangerous for competitors. Not only that, but the warm up area didn't even seem to have mats. This type of unprofessional preparation shouldn't be happening at an event of this caliber. I shouldn't see Lachlan Giles rolling around on what looks like a Walmart aisle. There were other people practicing shots on it and I was worried these people were going to injure themselves just warming up. I hope ADCC addresses this and it doesn't happen again.
