What We Learned From Polaris 36

Polaris is back again for another event. This time instead of a team event we got a series of superfights. Many of these were for Polaris belts and I was happy to see some people return that we haven't seen in a while. Ethan Crelinsten came, back to defend his belt and Kendall Reusing made her comeback after years of inactivity. Ross Nicholls also came out of retirement and it was good seeing a European BJJ legend make a come back to the pro grappling scene. Anyway let's take a look at the results.

Results

How People Won

42.9% of the matches ended in submission which is pretty good. There weren't a ton of matches, but what we got here was good. This event didn't have points, so of course there were no point victories here. Surprisingly there were no leglock victories and armlocks were more common than chokes, but that sometimes happens when events have fewer matches.

Stats

Overall

I think this was a good event. I liked the match making and I was happy to see some faces I hadn't seen in a while. I really liked how we didn't have to wait half a year for another show as well. I think one of the things that has been holding pro grappling back is the lack  of events. I think it is important to have things to talk about and that can't happen if you go months without an event. Luckily Polaris pulled through with this event and it turned out really well. It looks like their next event will be Polaris vs BJJStars, which should be interesting. I don't know if it will be a team event or superfights, but either way I'm interested.
