Here we are at the 1st women's division. I decided to start at the HWs and usually they are the most boring division, but it was very entertaining this year. We got a new champ and John Danaher finally got his first female champion. We also got a surprising amount of submissions, so let's take a look at the results
Results
- Helena Crevar
- Anabel Lopez
- Paige Evette Clymer
How People Won
We got a sub rate 62.5%. Those were split evenly between chokes and leglocks, with 1 arm submission. This greatly out numbered the point and decision wins, which makes this a division worth watching. Many of these came from the champ Helena Crevar who I believe won with all submissions.
Stats
Overall
This was a much better division than I expected. Helena proved she might be the best female nogi grappler in the world. To solidify that she might need to take on Adele Fornarino, but there is quite a bit of a weight difference. Another potential match is Gabi Pessanha. Anabel Lopez also made a name for herself here and I'm sure she'll get more opportunities on the pro circuit after here silver medal performance. I was just happy to see the women go out there and give it their all. This made the matches fun to watch and a lot of new faces appeared on my radar, who I will now be looking out for. I want you to look out for my next post on the other women's divisions. I know this is taking me a while to finish, but hand in there with me.
